HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – People gathered in Holyoke to make recommendations on ways to help Puerto Rico recover after Hurricane Maria devastated the island a year ago.

The group, Reimagina Puerto Rico, has been meeting with communities that have accepted hurricane evacuees.

Reimagina Puerto Rico means “Re-imagine Puerto Rico.” Their goal is to find ways to improve the island’s reconstruction.

Malu Blazquez, executive director of the organization, told 22News, “We wanted to hear from the diaspora what can Puerto Rico do to implement these recommendations, what can they do, what is that they think they can best serve and help.”

The group focused on improving the island’s housing, health, education, economic development, and infrastructure.
